The Secret Lantern is thrilled to be hosting The Cozy Cauldron Book Club - for lovers of tea-and-armchair-worthy reads!
All are welcome to join us for a fun night of book discussion and community building. We’re dedicated to stories where the stakes feel low, but the rewards are warm, comfy, character-driven tales of family, romance, and whimsy. Bring your favorite snacks (or pick one up at the counter) and come read with us!
This week, we’ll be discussing Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree!
The true rewards of the uncharted path are the travelers you meet along the way. Whether drawn together by ancient magic, flaky pastry, or a freshly brewed cup, they may become partners, family, and something deeper than you ever could have dreamed.

Hobby Night

Join us for our next bi-weekly Hobby Night every other Monday! Bring your paints, brushes, and tools for a chill evening where you can hang out and chat with other crafty folk and share your progress.
More than just minis - we welcome all hobbies and handicrafts! Whether you’re painting, knitting, crocheting, bookbinding, or working on a puzzle, come chill with fellow hobbyists and check out each other’s work.
Basic paints and brushes will be provided, but we encourage folks to bring their own materials.

Lustorious 5E One-Shot with Paul

This 5th Edition D&D (2024) one-shot will introduce players to the bustling city of Lustorious. They will be part of an event-planning business tasked with managing the wedding of a noble's daughter. Everyone will need to track down rare goods and overcome countless challenges to please the bride and ensure that their business continues to be the talk of the town!
This adventure will feature lots of social interactions as well as combat and urban adventure. Players will be provided with premade characters at 5th level.

Holiday Mini Book Ornament Workshop with Jamie

Join us for a cozy and creative evening celebrating our love of books and the magic of the holiday season!
We’ll be crafting miniature versions of your favorite books and placing them inside a large, clear ornament, then decorating with festive flair to make a one-of-a-kind bookish keepsake. Perfect for your holiday décor, bookshelf display, or as a heartfelt handmade gift!

Up to 15 miniature books of your choosing from our extensive collection

Icewind Dale Session 0 with DM Ben
Wednesday, December 10th | 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Survive the Frozen North!
In this introductory session, DM Ben will welcome players to the land of Icewind Dale. As this will be a fantasy-horror adventure set near the edge of the known world, we will work together to set expectations and priorities for the following game sessions.
Players will also begin creating their characters and get access to the campaign through D&D Beyond. You can use an existing account or create a new one for free. Ben and The Secret Lantern Staff will be happy to help as needed.
After Session 0, the first play session will be held on Wednesday, December 17th and will resume after the holidays. Exact dates will be discussed with the group.

Session 0 is a free introduction. Starting with Session 1, each game will have a reservation fee of $10/person.
Howdy Cheese - A Friendly Introduction to the Seven Styles of Cheese with Erika Bongort!

Cheese monger and our local expert of excellent taste, Erika Bongort, will be joining us once again to host Howdy Cheese!
In this beginner-friendly overview, Erika is bringing her knowledge and samples of the seven types of cheese to serve as an introduction to the world cheese and cheese pairings. Whether you’re on a quest to impress your friends at the next holiday gathering, a curious scholar of culture and cultures (see what we did there?), or just a big fan of cheese and snacking on it – this is a perfectly delicious way to spend an evening.

Yule Love This - A Blind Date with a Gift Exchange

Want to enjoy some early holiday gifting? Love Blind Dates with a Book or the excitement of a mystery present? Come in to wrap up a gift and join our gift exchange! Here’s how it works:
Pick up a new book or game in store (or bring in a gently used one)
Wrap your present - you can use our in-store gift wrapping station between 12/12 and 12/15
Label your present with a 3-word description (Spicy, Modern, Rivals / Strategy, Fantasy, Animals)
Bring your wrapped gift to the exchange on Monday, 12/15 and swap with fellow readers and gamers!
The exchange will work on slightly modified White Elephant rules: everyone will get to pick or “steal” a gift, but the gifts will stay wrapped - all you’ll have to go on is the 3-word description and the shape/size of the present. Let’s hang out, enjoy some holiday refreshments, and share fun gifts with our incredible community!
